Our Story

In a world brimming with wonders, it is nature’s timeless and ethereal beauty that has always captivated Lalita Chant. Her wanderlust and deep connection to the natural world inspired her to launch Gaia & Terra, a Paris-based demi-fine jewellery brand that transforms the extraordinary forms of nature into wearable art.

Named after Gaia and Terra—the Greek and Roman personifications of Earth and Mother Earth—the brand pays homage to the planet’s boundless creativity and abundance. Each piece is a reflection of Lalita’s vision: to celebrate the diversity of life and textures found on Earth while telling a story about our profound connection to nature.

Through her unique designs, Lalita holds up a mirror to the beauty of the natural world, creating jewellery that serves as both an artistic expression and a conversation starter. From pearl necklaces inspired by underwater phenomena to sculptural pendants personifying Mother Earth, every piece embodies the incredible diversity of forms and textures that surround us.

Thoughtful Approach

Gaia & Terra is dedicated to thoughtful sourcing, supporting local heritage and traditional craftsmanship, whilst ensuring fair wages and a kind working environment. Collaborating with a childhood friend who owns a family-run workshop in Thailand, all production is small-scale and expertly handcrafted with respect for the material.

By nature, precious metals are long-lasting, easy to reuse and have the value that extends beyond beauty, thus most of our jewellery is made from recycled sterling silver. Cultured pearls are responsibly sourced from trusted suppliers who comply with the agreed sustainability standards.

Earth Friendly Packaging

Gaia & Terra's packaging is designed to be treasured and made to last. Manufactured by hand in the UK, our jewellery box is biodegradable and recyclable, made from paper and recycled cork from Portugal. The fabric pouch is made from organic cotton, also made in the UK. And our protective packaging materials are also fully recyclable and biodegradable.
